To commemorate the 35 year anniversary since the release of Apple, I chose the iconicimage that was used for the insert, dubbed the “Apple sessions”. Im also including an outtake from the very first session we did together, used for the 1989 EP Shine. The Apple session was shot in Bruce and Steph’s Wallingford apartment, right above Durn Good Grocery. Xana created the starred paper backdrop, and the apple Jeff used was left over from the shoot we did for the Apple album cover.
Both sessions accomplished more than just capturing photos—they built trust and connection. That bond became the foundation for everything that followed. For me, that trust has always been the most important part of photography. Technical skill is the easy part; trust requires integrity and compassion.
All my work with Mother Love Bone remains close to my heart, especially because of the loss of the first true superstar I was lucky enough to call a friend—AndyWood. He made the work shine brighter. Landrew still lives on, high atop Mt. Olympus, casting his “Love Rock” light down on all of us.
